Safari Planner creates a personalised, day-by-day safari itinerary from six inputs: destination and area, number of days, travel month, travel style, group type, and budget. It's built for travellers who want a structured plan without hours of research.
Answer six quick questions on the homepage; country and park/circuit, trip length, when you plan to travel, style, who's travelling, and total budget. The tool then builds a day-by-day plan with seasonal pricing notes. Free users get up to three itinerary previews; Pro unlocks the full plan, species list, packing list, editing, and PDF downloads.
The itineraries are a solid starting point built from detailed knowledge of safari destinations, parks, and travel patterns. Conditions on the ground; park fees, road access and seasonal availability can change, so we recommend cross-checking key details with a local operator or your accommodation before you travel.
You can generate up to three free itinerary previews per browser, enough to compare routes and see how the planner works. The full day-by-day breakdown, wildlife species list, packing list, editing, and unlimited PDF downloads require Pro.

Yes. Click "Upgrade to Pro" after generating a preview, or enter a license key if you already purchased. Payment is handled by Lemon Squeezy; you'll receive a license key by email to activate Pro on this device and others.
Pro is $49 USD per year (one-year access, not a recurring auto-charge unless you choose that in Lemon Squeezy). The checkout page shows the exact price for your region.
Payments are processed securely via Lemon Squeezy, which accepts major credit and debit cards. M-Pesa and other local payment methods are not currently supported.

Safari parks in East and southern Africa are generally very safe for visitors. Wildlife encounters carry inherent risk, but serious incidents are rare: studies estimate around one to two wildlife-related tourist deaths occur across all of Africa per year, from a visitor base of several million annually. The vast majority of incidents involve tourists leaving vehicles against guide instructions. Follow your guide's direction at all times, stay inside the vehicle during game drives, and never approach animals on foot without a qualified ranger.
Urban areas near safari hubs such as Nairobi, Arusha, and Dar es Salaam carry a higher risk of petty crime. Avoid displaying valuables, use reputable transport, and don't walk alone at night in city centres.

They can, and this is worth factoring into your planning. Election periods across East Africa have historically been accompanied by protests and civil unrest in cities and major towns, even when safari parks themselves remain unaffected. A recent example: Tanzania's general election in October 2025 was followed by violent demonstrations in urban centres, leading governments including the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia to issue advisories against all but essential travel to the country. Curfews were imposed, internet access was disrupted, and some flights were cancelled.
Safari regions and national parks are generally insulated from urban political unrest, and operators in the field typically continue running without disruption. However, travel to and from airports, transit through cities, and access to fuel, food, and communications can all be affected. If your trip coincides with an election in any country you plan to visit, check your government's advisory in the weeks leading up to departure and confirm that your travel insurance covers trip disruption or cancellation due to civil unrest.
